CLINTON – A former longtime Chief of Police in DeWitt County passed away this week.
Former Clinton Police Chief Mike Reidy dedicated 37 years of his life to law enforcement, leaving behind a legacy of service and commitment.
Reidy’s career began with the Chenoa Police Department in 1976, where he was hired on as the Chief of Police for a small town in Main in 1983.
From there, Ready would serve as the Chief of Police in Clinton for 20 years until his retirement in 2013.
Reidy was a leader in the Clinton community, through the DARE program and a lifetime member of the Central Illinois Association of Law Enforcement Executives.
“Chief Reidy’s commitment to serving the public was not only evident in his professional accomplishments, but his passion and generosity through the various organizations, boards and volunteer work he devoted to the Clinton community and beyond,” said Clinton Police Chief Ben Lowers in a social media post.
