Connect Transit to detour areas of Downtown Bloomington

BLOOMINGTON – The Twin Cities mass transportation authority has announced detours that will impact Downtown Bloomington this spring and summer.

Connect Transit is calling the long-term detours a move of safety while preserving the outdoor and dining experience in the downtown area.

Connect Transit released the following statement on Wednesday.

Effective Monday, April 29, 2024, the following detours will take effect:

Southbound travel along Center Street will be moved to Madison Street, beginning at Monroe Street. The following turn by turn directions will apply to the Green, Lime, and Blue Routes.

Northbound travel along Main Street will be moved to East Street, beginning at Front Street and continuing as the vehicle proceeds along the route. The following turn by turn directions will apply to the Green and Blue Routes.

Northbound travel along Main Street will be moved to East Street, beginning at Front Street and ending at Market Street. The following turn by turn directions will apply to the Lime Route.

Buses will not stop at current stops located at:

Center Street and Jefferson Street
Main Street and Jefferson Street

Passengers should instead use stops at:

Market Street and Center Street
Main Street and Market Street
East Street and Douglas Street
The Front Street Transfer Area

The bus stop at Main Street and Market Street is currently located on the South side of Market Street; this stop will be moved to the North side of Market Street.
