Former Fairbury Police officer sentenced to prison

FAIRBURY – A former officer with the Fairbury Police Department now heads to prison.

In October of last year, Carter Meister, 24, of Forrest, was arrested on four counts of criminal sexual assault.

At the time, Meister faced four counts of criminal sexual assault.

Last Friday, Meister was sentenced to four years in prison, followed by a term of mandatory supervised release.

Meister’s sentence is to be served at 85 percent, and he will be required to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.
