BLOOMINGTON – Road work begins next week to repair parts of Illinois Rt. 9 from Sugar Creek to Hinshaw Ave.
During the repair, near the Interstate 55 and 74 interchange, the Illinois Department of Transportation plans to patch and resurface roads, add new sidewalks, and upgrade traffic signals.
The work will reduce Rt. 9 to one lane in each direction into the summer of 2025.
Over the next six years, IDOT plans to improve more than three thousand highway miles and nearly 10 million square feet of bridge deck.
The improvements are a part of the Rebuild Illinois capital program, which includes $12 billion of improvements statewide.
