BPD stepping up traffic enforcement ahead of Memorial Day

BLOOMINGTON – Expect to see more police officers on the roads in Bloomington leading up to Memorial Day. 

BPD plans to step up traffic enforcement as part of a click-it-or-ticket campaign. 

Last week, BDP and Illinois State Police conducted an enforcement campaign that resulted in 60 written citations within 24 hours. 

In 2022, Illinois had 300 fatalities involving passengers who were not wearing a seatbelt. 

Police say the click-it-or-ticket campaign funds come from the Illinois Department of Transportation.
