2 people dead after early morning shooting in Normal

NORMAL – Police say two people are dead after a Wednesday morning shooting in Normal.

According to a Normal police news release, officers were called around 2:26 a.m. to the 3000 block of Red Jasper Street for a report of a person shot. When officers arrived, they were able to locate two individuals with apparent gunshot wounds inside a residence.

Normal police and fire began life saving measures and one individual was transported to a local hospital. Authorities said both individuals died from their injuries.

This currently appears to be an isolated incident and there is no immediate safety concern to the public, according to Normal police.

The names of the deceased are currently being withheld until family is notified.

The case is being investigated by Normal police and the McLean County Coroner’s Office.
