Police arrest armed subject south of Uptown Normal Friday morning

NORMAL – A person armed with a knife was taken into custody late Friday morning near the police station in Normal.

According to NPD, officers responded to the 100 Block of East Phoenix Ave in Normal after 11 a.m. for a subject armed with a knife.

The individual was located and shortly there after, was arrested after police defused the situation.

The person was then transported by the Normal Fire Department for a mental health evaluation.

Members of the Illinois State University Police, and McLean County Sheriff’s Department all responded to assist in this incident.
