MCLEAN COUNTY – With an attorney finally on board his defense team, a 20-year-old Georgia man will appear back in court in late August for a review hearing.
The case of Tomiyale Anderson has largely been at a standstill as he went through the steps to hire Jennifer Patton as his attorney. On Tuesday, Patton told a McLean County judge she was now part of Team Anderson and needed time to review the lengthy court file.
Anderson facing first-degree murder charges in connection with the April 9, 2022, shooting death of 17-year-old Kanye A. Stowers of Peoria, who was attending a party in Bloomington that day.
He faces at least 20 years and possibly up to 60 years in prison if convicted. He also faces lesser charges of attempted murder and aggravated discharge of a firearm.
Anderson has a status hearing on Aug. 26.
