MCCOOK – If you complain about all the orange cones around Illinois, Gov. JB Pritzker says he’s here to tell you: “Sorry. Not sorry.”
The governor and the Illinois Department of Transportation rolled out a $41.42 billion, six-year construction plan. “Illinois has long been a multi-modal hub for national and regional travel and freight movement,” Pritzker said Friday in McCook, “but that status had been put in jeopardy. Five years ago, we stood together when I signed the bipartisan Rebuild Illinois infrastructure plan into law. We made it clear that this wasn’t just a plan to rectify the shortcomings of the past, but it was instead to build something better for our future.”
If there was anybody at the announcement happier than Pritzker, it was IDOT secretary Omer Osman.
“The day of the year when the governor announces the multi-year plan is special to me, because of the partnership that is always on display,” said Osman. “Labor, industry, state and local partners coalesce around the importance of transportation and investment in the community.”
