Cody Hendricks announces 2025 run for Bloomington mayor

BLOOMINGTON – Bloomington City Council member Cody Hendricks announced Tuesday morning that he is running for mayor in 2025.

According to a news release from his office, he “will continue to be a responsive, engaged leaders for all residents in Bloomington.”

“Our community has asked for leadership that listens, acts, and delivers, and I am ready to step up to that challenge,” Hendricks said.

Hendricks has served on the council since May 2023 as representative of Ward 6. Prior to that, Hendricks, who grew up in Pekin, served on the Pekin City Council from 2011 to 2015. He says he’s collaborated with business owners, city staff and residents to expand economy and services in the city.

“His positive working relationship with city staff allows him to deliver the best constituent services possible. Hendrick aims to develop tangible plans to address the affordable housing crisis, work to update city infrastructure and work with state and federal partners to assist Bloomington in receiving grant dollars to see the visionary projects in our community over the
finish line,” the release said.

“As mayor, I will bring a fresh vision to Bloomington, one that emphasizes tangible results and meaningful progress,” he said. “I am committed to driving real, fresh change. My campaign is grounded in the desire of our community for new leadership that is responsive, innovative, and focused on the future.”

Hendricks said he has a fresh vision, citing downtown Bloomington as a key economic incubator.

He also said the city needs a young leader with an energy vision and passion, energetic and present.

Hendricks is a lifelong central Illinois resident who has passion for politics and serving Bloomington, according to his campaign site.
