BLOOMINGTON – Following the severe storms from earlier this week, COUNTRY Financial is offering some tips when filing insurance claims.
The insurance and financial services company says to take photos of all damage. Some insurers will even cover the cost of spoiled food. So, include spoiled food in your photos before tossing it all in the trash. Also, make sure to save all receipts from emergency repair expenses.
“If you think you have a claim, we want to go ahead and take photos of all the damages. If you have some spoiled food, make sure before you throw it out, you take pictures of that as well. And then make an inventory of all damaged property, including vehicles,” said Sheree Clow, Director of Property Claims. “You really might have some temp repairs, so go ahead and keep receipts for anything you have from a temp repair standpoint, such as tarp or duct tape.”
As of Wednesday afternoon, COUNTRY Financial has received 1,405 claims. About 1,250 are property losses. For the Bloomington and Peoria areas, there are about 250 losses. As a reminder, check your policies to make sure you know what is covered.
COUNTRY Financial customers who need to file a claim can call their agent or 866-COUNTRY, or utilize the website or their phone app.
