BLOOMINGTON – A 24-year-old Bloomington man could spend the rest of his life behind bars after being sentenced in a McLean County Courtroom.
During a sentencing hearing Monday, McLean County Judge sentenced Jaylin Bones to 80 years behind bars.
Bones was found guilty in June by a McLean County jury for the murder of Tommy Manns, 29, of Bloomington.
During the trial, McLean County Prosecutors outlined how Bones shot Manns in the head and shoulder during an armed robbery in 2022.
The shooting took place in the 600 block of W. Jefferson St., near North Oak Street, on the city’s west side.
Bones has to serve his whole sentence, meaning he will be 104 years old once his sentence is up.
