Teen transferred to adult court, ordered held for attempted murder in Normal

NORMAL – A 17-year-old teen is being held after being transferred to adult court for charges stemming from his alleged connection to a shooting in Normal.

According to the McLean County Circuit Clerk’s Office, Demetris Pace, 17, has been charged with attempted murder, aggravated battery, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and unlawful possession of a handgun under the age of 18.

Pace was arrested on Monday by Bloomington and Normal police officers with assistance from the U.S. Marshals Task Force.

The shooting occurred just after midnight at Traders Circle in Normal on July 20. When officers responded to the scene, they located a man with a gunshot wound. As of Tuesday, the man remains in the hospital with life-threatening injuries, according to Normal police.

Pace is scheduled to appear in court for a petition hearing on Wednesday.
