Right lane of I-55 shut down after semi crashes into overpass pillar

MCLEAN COUNTY — The right lane of Interstate 55 in McLean County is currently shut down after a truck tractor semi-trailer crashed into an overpass pillar Thursday morning.

According to an incident report from Illinois State Police, preliminary information indicated that just before 11 a.m. Thursday, a single-unit crash happened on I-55 headed northbound at milepost 185 in McLean County. A truck tractor semi-trailer struck an overpass pillar.

Another car’s tire was flattened by debris from the crash. There were no other reported injuries.

The driver of the semi was taken to an area hospital with injuries. The extent of their injuries remained unknown as of Thursday morning.

The right lane of I-55 is shut down during an ongoing crash investigation.
