Midwest Food Bank sends relief to Hurricane Debby victims in Georgia, Florida

MORTON – Midwest Food Bank announced Monday afternoon that it’s sending much-needed relief to storm victims of Hurricane Debby in Georgia and Florida this week.

The bank said it partnered with The Salvation Army to launch an initiative to help storm victims of Hurricane Debby that caused widespread damage and destruction in parts of Georgia and Florida, according to a press release from Executive Director Lisa Martin.

Volunteers loaded two semi-trailers with food boxes that will be shipped from Morton to Savannah, Georgia, on Monday. The boxes are designed to feed a family for a week and supplement them during the recovery process.

Two more semi-trucks were loaded with water, one of which will be shipped from Morton to Tampa, Florida.

“Our collaboration with The Salvation Army enhances our ability to deliver much-needed aid to those impacted by this disaster,” Martin said. “We are delivering these essential supplies to those who need them most, helping families regain a sense of normalcy as they return to their communities.”
