BLOOMINGTON – Authorities say unattended cooking was the cause of a fire Wednesday afternoon on Bloomington’s east side.
According to a news release, fire crews were called just before 12:30 p.m. to the 1200 block of East Jefferson Street. When firefighters arrived on scene, they saw fire and smoke coming from behind the two-story home.
The fire was contained to the kitchen and quickly extinguished.
The Bloomington Fire Department says no injuries were reported but the fire displaced two adults and three children.
Most of the damage was in the kitchen due to smoke and water. A dollar estimate of damage was not available.
