BLOOMINGTON – After three decades, this will be the final year of the Evergreen Cemetery Walk, according to the McLean County Museum of History (MCMH).
In a Facebook post on Wednesday, the museum says rising costs, diminishing resources, actor availability and changing audience needs have led to this decision.
“If there was ever a project that had a life of its own, it is the Evergreen Cemetery Walk,” said the MCMH in the Facebook post “When the event began in 1995, no one had any idea it would last 30 years. But as they say, all good things must come to an end, and we have made the difficult decision that this will be the 30th and final Evergreen Cemetery Walk.”
The Evergreen Cemetery Walk started in 1995 and is an award-winning, live outdoor theater program that brings local history to life.
The 30th and final cemetery walk will take place October 5-6 & 12-13, with performances at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. each day. Tickets go on sale September 10 online at mchistory.org.
