CLINTON – The Illinois Department of Corrections error is to blame for a soft lockdown in the Clinton school district Thursday morning.
According to Clinton Police Chief Ben Lowers, the district was placed on a lockdown around 9:30 a.m. for what police called at the time a “community issue.”
In a news release, Chief Lowers said the IDOC alerted the department to a violent individual on probation near the district.
However, the IDOC said the issue was an error, and no one was in danger.
Leaders lifted the lockdown several hours later.
