Ironmen take home 30th annual Chili Bowl victory over Normal West in Week 2

NORMAL – The 30th edition of the Chili Bowl went the way of the Normal Community Ironmen for the second year and a row, as NCHS beatdown Normal West 48-7.

The connection between quarterback Kyle Beaty and receiver Mar’Quan Gary was on display early in the game, as the duo put up two touchdown’s on the Wildcat’s in the first quarter. West eventually found their groove late in the opening quarter, as Jrue Mangruem hit Maliq Given on a post route as time expired in the quarter for six points.

Ironmen running back Calen Taylor found his stride in the second quarter, securing two touchdown’s for Community.

The senior rusher added a 23 yard run for a touchdown in the third.

Beaty got back into the scoring column in the final two quarters of the game through both the air, connecting with Ivoreon Austin, and on the ground.

WJBC’s Eric Lapan spoke with both Beaty and Head Coach Jason Drengwitz after the game went final.

Normal Community(2-0) will host Urbana in Week 2, while Normal West(1-1) hits the road to Danville.
