BLOOMINGTON – The former head of the Illinois High School Association will step in as the temporary executive director of the Bloomington-Normal Area Convention and Visitor’s Bureau.

The group, also known as Visit BN, hired Marty Hickman, who helmed the IHSA from 2002 until 2016 to replace Crystal Howard the group’s leader.

According to a press release from the bureau, Hickman joined the organization earlier this month. He will lead the group while they conduct a national search this fall to officially replace Howard who retired last month after more than 20 years on the job.

BNACVB will partner with executive search firm Winner Partners to find a permanent executive director. They expect to appoint one in early 2025.
