Sugar Creek Arts Festival to cause road closures in Normal

NORMAL – The town of Normal will be closing certain streets in preparation for their Sugar Creek Art Festival.

Normal Civics Arts Manager Adam Fox, several streets will be closed at 1 p.m. on Friday, including:

  • Constitution Boulevard (*this street only will be signed no parking beginning at 5 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 3)
  • East Beaufort Street from Linden Street to Uptown Circle.
  • All of Uptown Circle.
  • West Beaufort Street from Uptown Circle to City Hall. (the Uptown Station parking deck will remain open and accessible.)
  • North Street from Fell Avenue to Uptown Circle.
  • Broadway from the intersection at North Street to the rear alley south of North Street.

Parts of Constitution Trail in Uptown Normal will also be closed off to ensure the safety of trail users and event attendees.

“Designated temporary accessible parking areas are located in the Trail West surface lot and along the east side of Broadway, north of the intersection with North Street” Fox said.

These areas will be closed until it is deemed safe to reopen which is expected to occur around 6 p.m. on Oct. 6.

“The Trail East and Trail West parking lots will be designated for Vendor and Artist parking. Public
parking is available in the Uptown Station Parking Deck, the Beaufort Street Parking Deck and the College Avenue Parking Deck. For more information, visit www.uptownnormal.com/parking.” Fox said.

McLean County Arts Center and Normal present the Sugar Creek Arts Festival. It is free for all ages and will have more than 100 local and national artists.

There will also be two live music stages, food trucks, and more. The festival will be held on Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The festival will be located in Uptown Normal.
