BLOOMINGTON – A woman who used to work at the McLean County Jail has been sentenced to probation for having an “inappropriate relation” with an inmate.
Samantha Beck, 22, pleaded guilty in McLean County Circuit Court to one count of official misconduct. In return, prosecutors dropped other counts including a count of custodial sexual misconduct.
The Sept. 30 guilty plea also had her paying just over $1,600 in fines and fees. Her probation term is 30 months which is a standard amount for a class 3 felony. Without the deal, she faced up to five years behind bars.
Sheriff Matt Lane said his office learned about the alleged relationship with a male inmate in late June and began an investigation. On June 25, Beck was fired, and a warrant was issued for her arrest. She was taken into custody on June 28.
