BLOOMINGTON – A Bloomington doctor faces up to seven years in prison for allegedly traveling to meet a teenager to engage in sexual activity.
Kynan Brown, 40, was charged last week with aggravated criminal sexual abuse and traveling to meet a minor in Ford County Circuit Court in connection with actions that allegedly took place on Oct. 10.
He was in court Tuesday but the results of that hearing was not yet recorded in the circuit clerk’s office.
The charges describe the alleged sex acts between Brown and the teen who was between the ages of 13 and 17. The other charge, him traveling to meet a minor, claims he used an online service to find and solicit the child.
Brown came to Bloomington last year with the OSF HealthCare St. Joseph’s Medical Center as a resident in their Family Medicine Residency Program.
OSF Healthcare said it was aware of the situation and was taking it very seriously.
“We are following all necessary internal policies and procedures and are unable to share further details related to employment matters,” the healthcare company said in an emailed statement.
