NORMAL – The Carle BroMenn Outpatient Center will be offering free mammograms this Friday.
According to Carle Health, the free mammograms are in recognition of National Mammography Day, and are for those who are uninsured or underinsured between the ages of 40 to 64.
“We are so happy to empower individuals who may or may not be a patient at Carle BroMenn. This is an opportunity to take action toward managing their health. Essential to surviving a breast cancer diagnosis is early detection,” said Beth Ghidina, the director of Carle BroMenn Medical Center, Imaging Services.
The free screenings are made possible through funding from the Illinois Department of Public Health’s Illinois Breast and Cervical Cancer Program and support through Prairie State Women’s Health.
Proof of age and income will be requested for those who hope to get the free Mammograms.
According to the American Cancer Society, one in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime.
