BLOOMINGTON – If you remember Downtown Bloomington from the 1970s, you may remember the Livingston Santa displays.
Now, after 45 years, one of the Santa Claus displays has returned.
The McLean County Museum of History celebrated the return of the 14-and-a-half-foot Santa statue with a celebration in Bloomington’s downtown.
They even went to a local artist to help restore the sculpture.
Norris Porter with the museum said it’s one of the largest preservation projects the museum has ever taken on.
“Santa is just another way to bring people downtown right to such a shot downtown, to be downtown and get those family pictures with Santa. And it will allow, you know, older people that remember Santa to share that now with the new generation, their grandchildren. So it’s really kind of cool,” said Porter.
You can see the Santa sculpture in front of the museum until March.
