NORMAL – The Normal Town Council approved a final development plan for the Shoppes at College Hills on Monday.

During Monday’s town council meeting, the plan was unanimously approved.

The redevelopment will take place in the location of the former Logan’s Restaurant, which closed several months ago.

According to developers, the plan will help with the area’s economic growth by turning the property into a multi-tenant building with a drive-thru.

The building will not demolished, but refurbished.

The town council also unanimously approved a site plan to install solar panels at Heartland Church.

Normal’s 2024 Property Tax Levy was approved four to three, with council members Scott Preston, Kathleen Lorenz and Andy Byars voting against it.

Illinois poet Vachel Lindsay…

African-Americans have been killed too many times in the past before George Floyd, but the response to this man’s death is international and all-encompassing. I was a grade-schooler during the Civil Rights 1960s. I watched Birmingham demonstrators hosed and the Selma – Montgomery…

Workers’ Memorial Day – Remember those whose job took their life

Looking around our community, when we say employer, most will respond to State Farm, Country, or Illinois State University.   We too often forget those who are building our roads, serving our food, or our public employees. COVID-19 has made us more aware of the risk.  Going to work every day for some people means…
