BLOOMINGTON – The City of Bloomington announced some residents may notice some changes with their tap water after the city changed its primary water source.
According to a city Facebook post, the City of Bloomington Water Department recently switched the primary source of its water from Lake Bloomington to Lake Evergreen.
The Director of Bloomington’s Water Department, Ed Andrews, said that they had switched over on Friday. Andrews said they routinely switch between the lakes depending on the volume conditions between the two of them.
Due to the change, residents might notice some changes in the taste or smell of the tap water, but the post states that the water is still safe to drink and meets all safety standards.
“Unfortunately we tend to get more taste and odor complaints from Evergreen, hence the public notice of the switch,” Andrew said.
