BLOOMINGTON – Bloomington Mayor Mboka Mwilambwe has selected who will fill the city’s vacant council seat.
According to a city news release, Micheal Mosley a longtime community leader, is expected to fill the seat.
Mosley has been a Bloomington resident since 2002, and has worked at State Farm for 25 years. He also serves as Vice President of the YMCA Board of Directors and has returned for a second stint as head boys’ basketball coach at Bloomington High School.
He said he is honored to step into the role.
“Bloomington has been my home for over two decades, and I look forward to working alongside the Council to help move our city forward,” Mosley said.
Mayor Mwilambwe said he’s confident in the appointment.
“Micheal’s leadership experience, commitment to service, and strong ties to the community make him an excellent addition to the City Council,” Mwilambwe said. “I look forward to working with him to continue strengthening Bloomington.”
Mosley will be replacing former council member Donna Boelen who stepped down in December.
If the appointment is approved by the city council, he will be sworn in during the council meeting on Monday.
