BLOOMINGTON – Memories are forever.
The family of the victims in Sunday’s murder-suicide in Bloomington spoke to WMBD about what Chelsea Lusher, 31, Trina Hollings, 30, and Armoni Bennett, 13, meant to them and to this world.
“Chelsea was so beautiful,” said Courtney Lusher, Chelsea’s brother. “She was there for us whenever we needed her, to make us laugh, to have our back, to support us.”
Courtney also spoke about how close Chelsea and Trina were, and how close Trina was to Chelsea’s three kids.
“They had each other’s back like I have never seen a crew, ever,” he said. “Trina loved for those kids as if they were hers.”
Allante Bennett, Armoni’s father, spoke about the brilliant young man his son was, and the amazing aspirations he had.
“He wanted to go to Harvard and then he wanted to be in politics,” Bennett said. “He wanted to be the president when he was younger, but he wanted to be a political leader from the time he was probably four or five. He got the nickname professor from the family… because of the way he spoke.”
Armoni absence will be felt by all of his classmates, as he was very involved in after-school activities.
“He was the manager for the girls volleyball team, he was in chorus, he was in band, he did drama, he ran track,” Allante said about his son.
Allante has a simple message for the community so that no parent experiences his pain.
“Help the next person, stop hurting each other,” he said. “This is coming from somebody that lost a son, their only son, their only boy, their only baby.”
Allante is in the process of trying to start a scholarship in Armoni’s name, to have his son’s legacy live on in students who love school, like Armoni did.
Courtney has set up accounts for Chelsea’s two young daughters where leftover funds after funeral expenses will go.
