Scott W. Smith, 49, of Bloomington, was pronounced dead after his sedan and another sedan collided at the intersection of West Market Street and Wylie Drive, said Coroner Kathleen Yoder.

The Bloomington Police Department was called at 8:02 a.m. on March 8, to the intersection of West Market Street and Wylie Drive, near the Aldi, for reports of a traffic collision, said Officer Bryce Janssen.

When paramedics got to the scene, they began providing medical attention to Smith, who they then transported to Carle BroMenn Medical Center, where he died less than an hour later at 8:46 a.m.

The driver of the other vehicle was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, and no update on his condition was given.
