BLOOMINGTON-NORMAL, Ill. (WMBD) — Resource officers with the Bloomington-Normal schools have been selected for a national award.
In a post on Unit 5’s Facebook page, they said the officers were selected for the National Association of School Resource Officers Model Agency Award.
“This national award recognizes police departments and agencies that excel in school-based policing by exemplifying the NASRO Triad model, emphasizing strong training, clear policies, and professional standards to ensure high-quality service to school communities,” the post said.
The award is targeted more to agencies that show creative and innovative approaches to safety and student engagement.
The post said the Bloomington-Normal teams are one of a kind, as it is two independent forces who exhibit great collaboration in serving both Unit 5 and District 87 schools.
