High school football: Intercity goes unbeaten in Week 8

Normal Community remained unbeaten as all of the Intercity squads posted wins in Week 8 of high school football on Friday.

Normal Community 42, Danville 14

Daylen Boddie rushed for 201 yards, including a dazzling 72-yard touchdown run in the third quarter as the No. 4 Ironmen pulled away for a 42-14 win over Danville.

The Ironmen (8-0) earn at least a share of the Big 12 championship, their first since 2014.
Varshaun Dixon ran for 178 yards and three touchdowns for NCHS, which carried a 14-7 lead into halftime before erupting for three third quarter scores.
Boddie also passed for 135 yards on 8 of 18 attempts and one touchdown.
Bloomington 28, Urbana 0
Bloomington (4-4) kept its playoff hopes alive with a shutout victory at Fred Carlton Field over Urbana (0-8).
Griffin Moore threw for 195 yards and ran for 81 more while Holden Snyder rushed 26 times for 111 yards for the Purple Raiders. James Ellis caught seven passes for 123 yards.
Normal West 35, Richwoods 21
The host Wildcats (6-1) took sole possession of second place in the Big Twelve Conference with the victory. West led 14-7 at halftime but scored 21 points on three straight possessions in the third quarter to pull away.
C.J. Davis caught four passes for 116 yards and ran five times for 58 yards and one touchdown for the Wildcats. Armani Forrest intercepted two Knights passes.
Central Catholic 49, Illinois Valley Central 20
Max Moews led the Saints (7-1) with 210 passing yards and two passing touchdowns while senior wide receiver James Morrison recorded 141 receiving yards and both passing scores.
Running back Sa’Mond Davis left the game with an ankle injury in the first half and did not return.
U-High 26, Springfield Southeast 13
Quarterback Doug Holmes threw for more than 300 yards, including touchdown passes of 11, 77, 87 and 46 yards, as the Pioneers (4-4) used an explosive second quarter to pull away from the host Spartans (1-7).
Tri-Valley 41, Fieldcrest 20
The Vikings (7-1) pulled away in the final quarter after trading scores in the first three chapters with the Knights (6-2). Zach Woodring led Tri-Valley with 210 yards rushing and four touchdowns plus an interception. Fieldcrest quarterback Cam Grady threw for 198 yards on 25-of-38 passing with one score and two interception plus a rushing touchdown.
Eureka 23, Deer Creek-Mackinaw 7
The host Chiefs (5-3, 2-2 Heart of Illinois Conference Large) led 7-0 at halftime and 7-3 after three periods, but Eureka (6-2, 3-1) scored three touchdowns in the fourth quarter, taking the lead on a 71-yard interception return by Preston Stahl.
