ISU homecoming parade, run prompt road closures

NORMAL – Several road closures are planned in Normal this weekend to accommodate Illinois State University’s homecoming activities.

ISU’s Homecoming 5k run and parade will be held on Saturday. The 5k begins at 8 a.m. and will start at the Student Recreation Center and end at the Quad. The race course which includes major thoroughfares such as College Avenue, University Street and North Street will be closed.

The parade begins at 10 a.m. at the intersection of University Street and College Avenue and ends on School Street just south of Locust Avenue. There will be extensive street closures on the parade route, including the majority of Uptown Normal. Streets will be closed at 6 a.m., and will reopen after the parade as safety permits.

Access to the College Avenue Parking deck will be maintained via Mulberry Street. Access to Uptown Station will be maintained via West Beaufort Street.
