BLOOOMINGTON – A Bloomington man, who authorities describe as a higher-level drug dealer, faces multiple felony charges for allegedly selling LSD, cocaine, and ecstasy on the Illinois State University campus.

In court, Assistant State’s Attorney Jeffrey Horve told the judge that Robert Willan, 30, was selling a “smorgasbord” of Schedule 1 controlled substances, which are considered the most dangerous drugs without medical value.

Willan faces 16 felony charges for alleged drug deals involving a State Police informant in September and earlier this month.

Willan was arrested October 18th on an unrelated weapons charge. He’s a convicted felon and State Police allegedly found him in possesion of a gun during a traffic stop.

Associate Judge Amy McFarland rejected the prosecution’s request that Willan remain jailed unless he can post $250,000.

Instead, the judge said Willan can be let go if he can come up with $7,500, but he’ll have to prove in another hearing that the cash he’s posting didn’t come from dealing drugs or from other illegal sources.

Pritzker, recall another Illinois Governor who protested the incursion of armed federal personnel into the city.   Those federal troops, rather than calming, escalated the situation, leading to deaths and violence. Illinois poet Vachel Lindsay…

In these troubled times, to my fellow white Americans

By Mike Matejka Our nation is at a unique watershed in human relations. African-Americans have been killed too many times in the past before George Floyd, but the response to this man’s death is international and all-encompassing. I was a grade-schooler during the Civil Rights 1960s. I watched Birmingham demonstrators hosed and the Selma – Montgomery…

Workers’ Memorial Day – Remember those whose job took their life

Looking around our community, when we say employer, most will respond to State Farm, Country, or Illinois State University.   We too often forget those who are building our roads, serving our food, or our public employees. COVID-19 has made us more aware of the risk.  Going to work every day for some people means…
