Local resources available for small businesses

PONTIAC – The director of an agency serving small businesses says resources abound for local entrepreneurs.

Amy Lambert, executive director of the Illinois Small Business Development Center Starved Rock Country Alliance, said her staff visits several cities throughout the week, but are always in Pontiac on Tuesday.

They are housed with the Greater Livingston County Economic Development Council on Water Street, and while they are different entities, they both work at building business opportunities throughout the area.

“GLEDC is focused on mid-sized business, business expansion and business attraction into the area,” Lambert explained. “SBDC is really focused on people with ideas, people with dreams to start new businesses, people with plans to start new businesses and people with existing businesses who want to grow those businesses.”
