Louise AllenLouise Allen

Louise Allen, 87, of Fairbury, passed away at 7:21 p.m., Nov. 24, 2017, at Fairview Haven Retirement Community, Fairbury.

Her funeral will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 2, 2017, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Fairbury. Pastor Tom Krieger will be officiating. Cremation will be accorded following the services with burial at a later date.

Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m., Friday, December 1, 2017, at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury and one hour prior to the services on Saturday at the church.

Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church or South Eastern Livingston County Ambulance Service.

Louise was born Jan. 4, 1930, in Ford County, the daughter of Ralph and Ruth Decker Hahn. She married Lowell Allen on October 10, 1975. He survives.

Also surviving are her children, Beverly (Bob) Pearce of Freeland, Wash. and Janet Brady of Dwight, Ill.; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and son-in-law, Brad Brady.

Louise was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Fairbury where she was a faithful servant. She was a secretary at Fairbury Cable Company for several years. Louise’s welcoming and fun-loving demeanor will be deeply missed by so many. She was much loved and loved much.

She will be sorely missed by her family.

Stephanie BakerStephanie Baker

Stephanie Ann White Baker, 73 of Bloomington, Ill., passed away on Saturday, Nov. 25, 2017 at Advocate BroMenn Medical Center.

Her memorial service will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Wesley United Methodist Church, Bloomington with Pastor Vaughn Hoffman officiating. Following the service burial will take place at East Lawn Memorial Gardens, Bloomington. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 10-11 a.m. at the church.

The family suggests memorials to be made to the Community Cancer Center in Normal or the Wesley United Methodist Church Youth Program.

Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home is in charge of arrangements.

Stephanie was born on July 19, 1944 in Bloomington. She is the daughter of George and Dorothy (Bardwell) White.

She is survived by her children; Stacy (Randy) Ash and Brian (Molly) Baker both of Bloomington, her grandchildren; Ryan, Jeffrey, Alexandra, Stephanie, Sarah, Mary and Brian and her brothers; Bard (Joan) White of Florida and Stephen (Carol) White of Bloomington. She is preceded in death by her parents.

Stephanie is a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, Bloomington and the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR).

She was a 1962 Graduate of University High School and attended Stephens College in Columbia, Mo. and Illinois Wesleyan University. She worked and retired from State Farm Insurance Company in 2002. Stephanie enjoyed music and was an accomplished pianist. She taught piano since the age of 14. She loved horseback riding, traveling to the mountains of Colorado, gardening, playing bridge and teaching Sunday School. Mostly she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

Stephanie was generous of heart, sharing joy wherever she could. Her love of God was clear in her daily walk as she constantly encouraged those around her. She was a beacon of light and hope for many. She was a strong and wise woman, a wonderful mother and grandmother. Our lives are much richer and blessed immensely for having known her.

Ruth Grosshans

Ruth E. Grosshans, 87, Fairbury, died at 11:57 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 26, 2017 at Fairview Haven Retirement Community, Fairbury.

A private service will be held Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2017 with the ministers of the German Apostolic Christian Church officiating. Burial will be in East Graceland Cemetery, Fairbury. Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury is assisting with arrangements.

Ruth was born March 22, 1930 in Fairbury the daughter of Fred and Viola Hanni Grosshans.

Surviving is a brother, David (Barbara) Grosshans, Fairbury.

She is preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.

Ruth was the oldest of six children who lost their mother at a young age. She took on the role of managing the household at the age of 14. She was a very loving and giving person who would do anything for anybody.

She was a member of the German Apostolic Christian Church.

The family would like to thank Fairview Haven Retirement Community for their excellent care of Ruth the past 4.5 years.
