Deborah A. Lubbert, 56, of Bloomington, passed away at 6:48 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 4, 2017 at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington.

Her memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, Dec. 8, 2017 at First Christian Church, 401 W. Jefferson, Bloomington, Ill. Visitation will be held before the service 1-3 p.m. at the church. Carmody-Flynn Funeral Home, Bloomington is assisting the family with arrangements.

Deborah was born January 4, 1961 in Watseka, the daughter of Dwayne Martin and Christine Ann Mear Hallock. She married Michael C. Lubbert on June 9, 1984 in Watseka. He survives. She is also survived by her father, Dwayne Hallock of Watseka and two sisters, Michele Hallock of Denver, Colo. and Mary Hallock of Chicago. She was preceded in death by her mother.

Deborah graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Mass Communications from Illinois State University in 1983 and at Heartland Community College, she was a member of Phi Theta Kappa International Honors Society.

Deborah was a vibrant and dynamic activist for many causes and ideals. Groups that Deborah joined and campaigned for include: Association for Woman in Communications, SCBWI, Indivisible, Green Top Grocery, Fell Hall International House, the Affordable Care Act Sign-up, Voices of Reason, and the Irish Heritage Society of McLean County.

A lifetime interest and passion for history and genealogy lead to many trips through the mid-west and two trips to the “old sod” Ireland. Deborah also owned the business The Genealogy Branch.

It was never boring, Deborah’s friends and family will fondly remember how she made times interesting.

Memorials may be directed to the National Kidney Foundation or the charity of the donor’s choice.
