Edith Butler
Edith M. Butler, 97, Gibson City and formerly of Fairbury, died at 3:32 p.m. Saturday, December 23, 2017 at Gibson Area Annex, Gibson City.
A funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday, December 29, 2017 at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Fairbury. Visitation will be 10:00 – 10:45 a.m. Friday also at the memorial home. The family suggests memorials be given to the charity of their choice.
Mrs. Butler was born November 27, 1920 the daughter of Clarence and Annie Garmon. She married Everett S. Butler on November 11, 1939 in Kentland, IN. He preceded her in death on April 25, 1993.
Survivors include one son, Ronald (Nora) Butler, Hickory, NC; five grandchildren, six great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
She is preceded in death by one daughter, Linda Nichols.

Gene Hetz
Gene Edwin Hetz, 82 of Bloomington, passed away surrounded by loved ones on, December 22, 2017 at Luther Oaks.
A private family memorial service will be held at East Lawn Memorial Gardens, Bloomington. Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 28, 2017 from 5-7 p.m. at Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home, Bloomington.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials to be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
Gene was born May 27, 1935 to Benjamin & Dolores (Blackmore) Hetz in St. Louis, Missouri. He served his country as a member of the Coast Guard. Gene married Marilyn Joanne Andersen on August 17, 1956. He worked for State Farm Insurance for 37 years retiring in 1997. Gene had his private pilot license and was a member of the Crosswinds Flying Club. He enjoyed flying, family vacations in Myrtle Beach, and spending time with his family. He attended East White Oak Bible Church. He is survived by his wife Marilyn and 8 children: Kathryn (Mike) Merrick, Clinton; Elizabeth (Sam) Hendricks, Danvers; Diana (Larry) Heiken, Bloomington; Gene Hetz Jr, Port Chester, NY; Dolores (Gary) Ward, Mackinaw; Stephan (Gerry) Hetz, Eureka; Angela (Chris) Shields, Mackinaw; Helene (Blake) Vrooman, Bloomington; as well as his 23 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
