BLOOMINGTON – The City of Bloomington has reached into Texas to hire its new performing arts manager.

James Mack will manage the Bloomington Center for the Performing Arts. He comes to Bloomington from Mesquite, Texas, where he has been directing that city’s arts council. Mack has also held other arts-related positions, including one in San Diego.

He holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Arizona and is working on his master’s through the University of Notre Dame.

“We are excited to welcome Jim to the City of Bloomington as Performing Arts Manager,” Bloomington Director of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts/Miller Park Zoo Jay Tetzloff said in a release. “His passion for the arts paired with a strong background in management and fundraising will benefit the BCPA greatly. With the kickoff of the BCPA’s 2018-2019 season just around the corner, now is the optimum time to have him join our team.”

Mack begins his duties in Bloomington on February 12.

I was a grade-schooler during the Civil Rights 1960s. I watched Birmingham demonstrators hosed and the Selma – Montgomery…

COVID-19 has made us more aware of the risk.  Going to work every day for some people means…
