TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Indiana State used a 17-0 first-half run to take a lead it would not give, as the Illinois State Redbirds fell in Terre Haute by an 84-54 final score.
How It Happened
The Redbirds jumped out quickly, scoring the first two baskets, and holding Indiana State scoreless for the first 4:23 of the game; however, the Sycamores responded in a big way, scoring 17 straight points, and taking a 17-4 lead eight and a half minutes into the contest. Illinois State was able to close the deficit to 11 following a Daouda N’Diaye dunk; however, the Redbirds could not get within single digits, and went into the locker room trailing 42-27.
The Sycamores opened the second half on a 14-5 run through the first five minutes of the second half, and the hosts cruised to the 30-point victory.

N’Diaye scored twice in the first three minutes of the game, and the Redbirds held a 4-0 lead through the first four and a half minutes of the game.

- Phil Fayne scored a team-high 13 points, making 5-of-10 shots from the field, and 3-of-5 from the charity stripe. He also added a team-high nine rebounds in the loss.

What’s Next
Illinois State remains on the road, and travels to face off against Northern Iowa on Jan. 24. The game marks the first time this season that Illinois State has had two consecutive true road games.
