SPRINGFIELD – The state of Illinois will start accepting income returns for 2017 on Monday.
That puts the state on the same timetable as the Internal Revenue Service, which also starts accepting federal returns on Monday.
Officials with the Illinois Department of Revenue recommend the electronic route, saying that’s the fastest and most secure of means of getting a tax refund. They also suggest direct deposit.
Tax returns are due April 17.
