NORMAL – Illinois state junior guard Keyshawn Evans is expected to miss one to three weeks with a bone bruise, coach Dan Muller confirmed on Monday.
Muller said during his radio show on WJBC Monday an MRI performed on his injured left knee on Monday showed no structural damage.
Coach Dan Muller said Evans reaggravated an injury which he first sustained during the Christmas break, when he missed one game.
“This one is a little more stuff, a little more painful than the last ones,” Muller said.
Muller added he plans to be more cautious this time in getting Evans back into the lineup to avoid reinjury.
“Not that it was the wrong decision to (play him soon) before, but when you reaggravate something and get this close to the end of the season, I want to be a little more careful,” Muller said.
Evans is the Redbirds’ top three-point shooter and third-leading scorer at 15.6 points per game. The Redbirds host Southern Illinois on Thursday night. There are six games left in the regular season before the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament begins on March 1.
