SPRINGFIELD – President Donald Trump has unveiled his infrastructure plan, which is raising questions from legislators on both sides of the aisle.

Representative Darin LaHood says he believes the plan will find bipartisan support, but Americans deserve more explanation.

“[President Trump] has talked a little on raising the gas tax. Very controversial, but if people know that money is going towards transportation, I think they would be more willing to do it,” LaHood explained. “So I am anxious to see the president articulate how he is going to pay for it, but there is no doubt he will find bipartisan support on an infrastructure plan.”

LaHood adds good infrastructure is especially vital in Central Illinois, citing the need for farmers to transport their goods.

Illinois poet Vachel Lindsay…

I was a grade-schooler during the Civil Rights 1960s. I watched Birmingham demonstrators hosed and the Selma – Montgomery…

Workers’ Memorial Day – Remember those whose job took their life

Looking around our community, when we say employer, most will respond to State Farm, Country, or Illinois State University.   We too often forget those who are building our roads, serving our food, or our public employees. COVID-19 has made us more aware of the risk.  Going to work every day for some people means…
