Sen. Brady seeks bipartisan solutions to gun violence, urges GOP unity against Pritzker

BLOOMINGTON – Bloomington State Senator Bill Brady is hoping this weekend’s March for Our Lives demonstrations against gun violence, including Saturday’s protest in Downtown Bloomington, will spur bipartisan action in the Illinois General Assembly.

So far, Brady said the Democratic majority has not sought Republican assistance, as he explained to WJBC’s Sam Wood.

“In most of the issues that we’ve talked about, bump stocks and others, there are initiatives by our side of the aisle that I think will be very well supported, but the Democrats chose to ignore Republican input.”

Brady believes Republicans will unite behind Rauner, given the alterative, and he thinks independents will back him as well.

“That difference between an all Chicago Democratic control of this state under J.B. Pritzker compared to at least a check and a balance with Governor Rauner, that’ll be clear to them.”

Brady was the Republican party’s nominee for governor in 2010, losing to Democrat Pat Quinn. Brady sought the GOP nomination against four years later, losing to Rauner.

Brady noted he immediately endorsed Rauner after the 2014 Republican Primary.
