John Brown

John R. Brown, 57, Chatsworth, died at 9:15 a.m. Thursday, April 5, 2018 at his residence, Chatsworth.

Visitation will be 2-6 p.m. Monday, April 9, 2018 at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury. Cremation rites will be accorded following the visitation. The family suggests memorials be given to the American Cancer Society or the American Diabetes Association.

John was born January 3, 1961 in Mt. Vernon, Ill. the son of Cecil T. and Cora “Pat” Lemons Brown. He married Viola Cassity on Feb. 24, 2006 in Paducah, Ky. She survives in Chatsworth.

Also surviving are three daughters; Subrina (Josh) Sergeant, Pontiac; Heather Hobart, Streator; Hillary Brown, Chatsworth; one step daughter, Christina (Kenneth) Riley II, Chatsworth; three brothers, Wendall (Toots) Brown, Davenport, Iowa; Thomas Brown, Secor; Richard Brown, Champaign; two sisters, Diana (Bobby) Chrestman, Pontiac; Teresa (John Eggenberger) Eby, Saunemin; 12 grandchildren and six step grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents and a granddaughter, Misty.

John had been employed as a mill operator at PTC Alliance, Fairbury for 39 years.

Michael Deerwester

Michael A. Deerwester, 69 of Normal, passed away on Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington.

No services will be held at this time. Cremation rites will be accorded.

Beck Memorial Home, Bloomington, Illinois is in charge of arrangements.

Michael was born on Aug. 11, 1948. He is the son of Alfred Michael and Dorothy (Alexander) Deerwester.

He is survived by his mother, Dorothy Mock of Bloomington; wife Katie, three children, Thomas Deerwester of Normal; Cinnamon Patterson of Vencia, Italy and Heather Weisman of Scottsdale, Arizona and two brothers, Randy Deerwester and John Deerwester.

Ruth RashRuth Rash

Ruth Naomi Rash, 85 of LeRoy formerly of Bloomington, passed away on Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at Advocate BroMenn Regional Medical Center, Normal,Ill.

Ruth’s graveside service will be held on Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at 1 p.m. at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Stanford, Ill. Visitation will be held from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. at Beck Memorial Home on Tuesday.

The family suggests memorials to be made to the American Heart Association or to the Humane Society of Central Illinois.

Ruth was born on Sept. 2, 1932 in Stanford. She is the daughter of George J. and Katherine E. (Steiger) Leipold.

She is survived by her six children; Nancy Rash of Bloomington, Jim (Vickie) Rash of Shirley, Cindy (Steve) Henert of Bloomington, Sonia (Victor) Reyes of Bloomington, Sue Woolridge of Bloomington and William Rash of Bloomington; 11 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, six siblings, one grandson, one great grandson, a daughter-in-law, a son-in-law and one nephew.

Ruth went to Stanford and Bloomington schools and attended NCHS. She worked 28 years at Eureka Williams retiring in 1995. She was a member of Assembly of God and later First Church of God in Normal. Ruth loved church, music and her family.

Ruth was a big supporter of American Red Cross, donating blood when she could. She had a gift of playing piano, organ and accordion by ear and would play for her church after retirement. She was a great cook and wonderful mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends.

Shirley WhiteShirley White

Shirley A. White, 82 of Watseka, Ill., passed away surrounded by family on Friday, March 30. 2018 at 1:50 a.m. at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana, Ill.

A private family graveside service will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery, Watseka. Cremation rites will be accorded and Pastor Don Love will officiate.

Memorials may be made to Calvary Lutheran Church, Watseka.

Shirley was born on Nov. 19, 1935 in St. Charles, to Harry and Dorothy (Wolfe) Behrens.

Shirley is survived by her daughters, Cindy (Dan) Henry Kohlenberg and Debbie Henry Gooden; ten grandchildren; six great grandchildren; one sister, Mini (Linard) Kessinger and one brother, Gerald (Ruth) Behrens.
