Chet Eyer
Chester “Chet” Eyer, 89, of Anchor, passed away at 4:11 a.m, April 11, 2018, at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington.
His funeral will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, April 14, 2018, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Anchor. Pastor Ed Huddelson will be officiating.
Burial will be in St. John’s Lutheran Church Cemetery, Anchor, where military honors will be performed.
Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m., Friday, April 13, 2018, also at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Anchor and one hour prior to services on Saturday.
Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Colfax is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church, Anchor or Leon Kellar Assist Fund.
Chet was born Feb 20, 1929, in Fisher the son of Daniel A. and Matilda Springer Eyer.
He married Gladys Hinrichsen on April 15, 1951. She survives.Also surviving are two sons, Dan (Vicky) Eyer and David (Martie) Eyer both of Anchor; three grandchildren, Ryan (Ashley) Eyer of Houston, Tex., Christina (Adam) Zehr of Cary, and Allison Eyer of Madrid, Spain; two great-granddaughters, Cora and Hayley Zehr; and a great-grandson due in September.
He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Thelma Schleeter, Harold and Orville Eyer.
He was a veteran of the United States Army serving from 1954-1956.
Chet was a farmer in the Anchor area for 62 years.
He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Anchor, where he was on council, McLean County Farm Bureau, and was Post Commander for the Anchor American Legion. He was board member for 19 years with Anchor and Alliance Grain Co. and Anchor State Bank board for 35 years.
Chet was an avid sports fan of Ridgeview Athletics.
