BLOOMINGTON – Bloomington police say they’ve caught three teenagers passing counterfeit $100 bills last weekend.
Police say five stores on Bloomington’s east side reported the phony money on Saturday. Shortly after receiving the reports, officers stopped a vehicle matching a description given by store employees near Eastland Drive and Prospect Road. Police say they found items bought with the fake bills and several counterfeit 100-dollar bills in the car.
Officers arrested Kayonna Howard, 18, Denokey Midderhoff, 18 and a 17-year-old male, all from Chicago. Howard and the juvenile were charged with theft by deception and Midderhoff was charged with destroying evidence.
Bloomington police released information about Saturday’s incident on Wednesday.
