PONTIAC – The memory of the Camp-Humiston Swimming Pool may be just that, a memory.
A public presentation was made to the Pontiac City Council in its last session on the legacy and memorial efforts of the landmark.
Cheri Kruger and Shelly Adcock are asking for a memorial water fountain to be created at the sitee of the pool or in the vicinity.
As reported in the Pontiac Daily Leader, Kruger and Adcock are asking that waste concrete materials salvaged from the demolition of the pool be used for the project.
Given the restrictions on projects built within a floodway, Mayor Bob Russell said it would be difficult to get a plan like the fountain approved but did not table the idea entirely.
The proposal is set to be discussed at a meeting of the city’s Infrastructure Committee that’s informally scheduled for Aug. 30 at 4:30 p.m.
