SPRINGFIELD- U.S. Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) says in nominating Brett Kavanaugh, President Trump is attempting to game the U.S. Supreme Court.
“We have a President whose campaign and administration are under criminal investigation. We know the indictments; we know the guilty pleas and the findings of guilt that have occurred,” Durbin told reporters at a Sunday news conference outside his Springfield home. “It is not a leap of faith to believe that one of these cases will end up before the Supreme Court. Kavanaugh’s position on issues central to this investigation are extreme. He believes that no President, while in office, should be subject to investigation or prosecution.”
Durbin also used the opportunity to tout a proposal to require Big Pharma to include a pharmaceutical’s price in its advertising.
“Disclosing the price of a drug is going to discourage these companies from raising their prices,” Durbin said.
“You might be surprised to hear this,” he added, “but I am working with the Trump administration on this amendment.”
