Yarbrough suspended from Redbird men’s basketball

NORMAL – Illinois State senior guard Milik Yarbrough has been suspended from Redbird men’s basketball team activities indefinitely.

A report from Normal police shows Yarbrough was taken into custody Tuesday night at about 9:30 on a charge of failure to provide information and render aid in an injury-related accident, a misdemeanor.

The report indicates Yarbrough’s vehicle struck a woman, injuring her foot and arm, as she entered the street in the 200 block of North Fell Avenue at about 2:30 Sunday morning. The woman reportedly declined treatment at the scene.

Police arrested Yarbrough Tuesday night after an investigation. He was released on bond Wednesday morning.

Yarbrough was the Redbirds’ leader in scoring and assists last season, and was second in rebounds. He was named to the Missouri Valley Conference First Team last season and was voted the league’s Newcomer of the Year.

Yarbrough was placed on six months court supervision in May after pleading guilty to driving with a suspended license. He was also placed on 12 months court supervision in July after pleading guilty to reckless conduct in connection with an incident with his former girlfriend.
